Tracking set up before launch
Calls, form messages and bookings recorded as conversions from the first day. Clicks are easy to count and easy to misread, so inquiries are what we report.
The suggestion data shows how loose a keyword can be. “digital marketing cambridge” leads to courses and apprenticeships, and short trade searches without the province reach people nowhere near Waterloo Region. In an ad account, a broadly matched keyword built on the bare city name can therefore put your ad, and your budget, in front of people who will never set foot in Galt, Preston or Hespeler.
The fix is not complicated, but it has to be deliberate. Location settings restrict ads to people who are actually in Cambridge and the parts of Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph or Brantford you serve. Then exclusions block searches for courses, jobs or do-it-yourself guides, along with places you do not serve. After that, the weekly search terms report shows whatever still slips through.
Demand here also moves with the seasons and the economy. Snow removal and furnace repair searches arrive with the cold, while eavestrough, roofing and deck work follow the thaw. Advanced manufacturing employs nearly 20% of the city’s workforce, so many local advertisers sell to other businesses during working hours, while restaurants and shops near the river or on Hespeler Road do most of their selling on evenings and weekends.
Search demand
Google.ca suggestions from October 2026. The phrase “google ads cambridge ontario” produced no suggestions at all. Below, terms worth paying for sit beside several that should be blocked from day one.
For most trades the phrases worth bidding on are few: the service plus cambridge ontario, the service plus an old town, and urgent forms such as emergency. The list of words to block is far longer: university, course, jobs, apprenticeships, free and the names of places you do not serve. We build that list before launch and keep extending it, because every excluded search leaves money for the clicks that can become customers.
Paid or organic
Most Cambridge businesses that use both run ads for the peaks and rely on SEO for the long stretches between them.
The work
Calls, form messages and bookings recorded as conversions from the first day. Clicks are easy to count and easy to misread, so inquiries are what we report.
Targeting drawn around the towns and areas you actually serve, with the option that shows ads to people merely interested in a location switched off.
The report of what people really typed, checked weekly. Anything naming a place you do not serve, a university, a job or a free download joins the exclusions.
For seasonal trades, spend raised ahead of the first snowfall or the spring thaw and lowered as demand fades, rather than one flat amount every month.
An ad for furnace repair lands on your furnace repair page, with the phone number and service area in view, not on the home page.
Ads for mortgages, insurance or legal services are kept to provable facts and checked against the Competition Act and the relevant regulator, such as FSRA or the Law Society of Ontario.
Done carefully
The standards we keep on every account, set out so you can check us against them.
We would rather you spend less and get more calls. Our fee is fixed, so that is the only outcome we are paid for.
We set the account up under your business and your Google login, then join as a manager. The Pro plan, $700 a month in CAD with no long-term contract, covers Google Ads management; Google invoices the clicks to your card. Leave whenever you like and the campaigns, data and history remain in your account.

How we work
From a first look at your listing to a monthly report you can actually follow.
We go through your website and listing, then search from Galt, Preston and Hespeler to see where you appear.
We pick the searches most likely to bring you work and plan one focused page for each.
Listing, website and content fixes, beginning with whatever should move results soonest.
Once a month you get a one-page summary of enquiries and rankings, and the next jobs on our list.
Questions
Most of the waste comes from two settings. The default location option also shows ads to people merely “interested in” a place, so we turn that off. Then an exclusion list blocks searches for courses, jobs and places you do not serve, and it grows as new strays appear.
Some do, but not by typing the city: “cambridge ontario cnc” returns no suggestions at all. So campaigns for industrial suppliers work best built on process, material and part terms, shown during working hours to the surrounding region.
Separate. Your clicks are billed by Google to a card you control. Google Ads management, building and running the campaigns, is part of Pro at $700 per month (CAD).
Before the first cold snap, not during it. Setup takes a little time, and the account learns faster if it is already running as searches climb. We usually prepare seasonal campaigns a few weeks ahead.
Yes. Mortgage brokers and insurance agents answer to FSRA, lawyers to the Law Society of Ontario, car dealers to OMVIC, and every advertiser to the Competition Act. Google adds its own rules for financial services. We draft plain, checkable claims and send each ad to you before it runs.
You can, since there is no long-term contract, but a single month mostly shows the setup period. Two or three months give enough data to tell profitable keywords from expensive ones.
